About Permanent Jewelry

What is Permanent Jewelry?

It is a piece of jewelry where two ends of a chain are joined by a ring. This ring is welded closed to create a seamless, clasp free design, which can be worn continuously. This means the ends of the jewelry are welded together while being worn and the chain is custom fit to your wrist. It has become so popular for these reasons.

Note: I offer an option where the ring holding the chain together does not have to be welded. This is offered in my stainless steel chain option only.

Metal Types

Stainless steel (a customer favorite): is a strong hypoallergenic metal, which is resistant to tarnish and easy to care for. Stainless steel is naturally silver in color, the gold stainless steel is ion plated, which is done through a heating process which holds up longer than normal plated items. With proper care it can last up to 6months or longer. I have had mine on for over a year and still looks new.

Sterling Silver: is solid .925 sterling silver. It is easy to care for with polishing cloth if it happens to tarnish.

Gold-Filled:

Is it really permanent?

I find the name can be confusing and somewhat deceptive to some who are new to permanent jewelry. Permanent jewelry can break or come undone if tugged on to hard. Chain is not indestructible and can break. However, for safety reasons permanent jewelry should have a breaking point so that if caught on something it should either cause ring to open or chain to break with enough force.

Welded vs Non-Welded

Welded is where I weld the ring close and non-welded is where I do not weld the ring closed. Sterling silver and gold-filled must be welded due to being a softer metal. Stainless steel does not have to be welded due to it being a strong metal.

Never heard of Non-Welded

My first few events there were moms who had their young daughters with, who so badly wanted permanent jewelry, however, the moms did not feel comfortable with their child having something welded on them or wanting to pay the higher cost of the precious metals. I completely understood their concerns. So since I had been working with stainless steel for years and knowing it was stronger and would not necessarily need to be welded I decided to test it out on myself and some family and friends. It worked and held up with normal wear. I finally started offering it at events and so many moms were so happy and to see the smiles on the little girls faces when they got one mad hit all worth it. Little did I know it would become my top seller and become something to do for girls birthday parties.
